That you can have planets covered in lava flows, and constantly erupting volcanoes? Fine, no problem. As you say that’s probably what Earth was like 4 billion years ago. It’s in some ways not totally dissimilar to what Jupiter’s moon Io, or Venus are like today. But for those same planets to have breathable atmospheres and for people to be able to have extended battles around said lava, without a) burning to death and b) choking on the INCREDIBLY TOXIC gases that lava flows like that produce?
